General Convention E3 Youth Event Recruitment Criteria

Since the 1990, the Youth Ministries Office and the design teams for national events have made concrete efforts to ensure that the opportunities provided for young people will be available for as broad a cross-section of young people and adults from throughout the Episcopal Church as possible. Realizing that there are many young people and adults in the church who do not have access to the systems that provide events and resources, we have prepared the following registration criteria for the event:

The participants from each diocese should reflect the ethnic/cultural diversity of each diocese.

When recruiting young people for General Convention, we are looking for young people who:

  • Find the Episcopal Church exciting.
  • Want to learn more about how the Episcopal Church operates and makes decisions.
  • Are interested in following and engaging the issues that face our Church and our Communion.
  • Are interested in the great work and ministry our Church is engaging in.
  • Will honor and respect the experience and diversity of our Church, while honoring difference of opinion.
  • Would be interested in engaging clergy and lay leaders of our church in dialogue and discussion.
  • Already have a leadership role or are interested in taking a leadership role in their local Episcopal community.
  • Whose conduct would be compatible with a churchwide gathering such as General Convention.
  • Would be comfortable participating in an adult event.
  • Want to have fun with other youth and adults in our Church.
